Toronto FC Finalizes Salcedo-Soteldo Swap Agreement

It is official. Carlos Salcedo is the newest designated player in Toronto FC. As the USWNT achieves milestones the FCT takes the lead and makes records. The club announced earlier in the New Year that the club has recently acquired the Mexican International defender, Carlos Salcedo, from the Liga MX’s Tigress.

That means the soccer player will wear the Nike soccer cleats for the TFC from the date the contract was sealed through to 2024. Video game lovers are also surely going to see him on PES 2022. With the new acquisition, it means that TFC does not need to look at poaching a player from Portugal national team to make up its team.

There is also an option to extend the contract to 2025 without affecting the USWNT. Suffice to mention that the Reds will send the ex DP Yeferson Soteldo to Tigres in exchange for the new acquisition and it seems the club and fans are happy to see him go.

The president of Toronto FC, Bill Manning, stated in a press release that Carlos is a strong competition whom he has known since his days as a young soccer player. Manning mentioned that he had known Salcedo since his time with Real Salt Lake about seven years ago.

According to him, Carlos has won various trophies including CONCACAF Champions League with Tigres and the German Cup while playing with Eintracht Frankfurt. He went ahead to elaborate that the player is one of the top defenders within the region of CONCACAF with the potential to feature in PES 2022.

Manning believes that Salcedo will immediately boost the backline of the team as they go against many teams in 2022. Apart from the World Cup 2022, the FCT looks forward to many competitions with other teams, including the Argentina soccer team.

Highlights of Carlos Salcedo Football Career

Carlos is a 28-year old professional football player that spent the last four seasons with Tigres and features in numerous football matches today. All through his time with Tigres, he made a total of 102 appearances and scored 7 goals in all competitions he participated in.

These include Copa MX, Liga MX, FIFA Club World Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, Supercopa de Mexico, and Campeon de Campeones. He has participated in different international games with Italy national team being in the mix. He is indeed a popular face to look forward to in PES 2022.

While talking about the swap deal, Salcedo stated that he is happy to return to MLS to join the team that is always determined to compete and win titles. The player said he looks forward to playing with the team and hopes to make history with the club and make the fans proud without shadowing the popularity of the USWNT.

Suffice to mention that Carlos Salcedo signed his first professional football contract as a homegrown player with the Real Salt Lake in 2013. Although he has not played with the France soccer team, he made his MLS debut on May 4 when he got off the bench against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC team.

While playing with Real Salt Lake, he made thirty appearances and scored a goal in all competitions through the two seasons he spent with the team. His performances with Real Salt Lake may not compare to some performances from the USWNT so far.

Carlos later joined C.D. Guadalajara in 2015 and went on to enjoy a few stints with ACF Fiorentina, the Italian Club. His face is sure to feature in PES 2022, thanks to his numerous performances across these clubs. He also played with German club Eintracht Frankfurt and later returned to Mexico in 2018 to play with Tigres.

Salcedo also made numerous appearances in the international football scene just like Christine Sinclair. Suffice to mention that he achieved forty-eight caps for the Mexican National Team. Bob Bradly, the Head Coach of Toronto FC also has something to say about Carlos.

According to him, Carlos is an excellent defender who has a strong mentality and an ability to play from the back. This skill is important to the team. He went further to reveal that Carlos Salcedo has played important role in Tigres and has a track record of winning.

A source revealed that Salcedo may eventually qualify to be bought down from the designated player status. However, this does not seem to be in the itinerary for this season as the club continues to prepare for upcoming matches.

Highlights of Soteldo Departure from Toronto FC

In the same light, Yeferson Soteldo will be leaving Toronto FC just after spending nine months with the club. According to reports, his presence was seen as a disturbance to the overall culture of the club and the Reds seem to be delighted to see him leave.

Without a doubt, Yeferson did his best for the team but it seems the culture clash hampered the rapport he would have had with his club members. It is worth mentioning that the issue of culture clashes is common among soccer teams, including the USWNT. However, the onus rests on the team leaders to navigate the situation to ensure no ill feelings among team members.

Soltedo, the 24-year old Venezuelan professional football becomes the new face of Liga MX club Tigres UANL. He also plays for the Venezuela national team as a left-winger and sometimes as an attacking midfielder.

He joined the Toronto FC in 2021 and all through his time with the club, he made 26 appearances in all competitions, including Canadian Championship and MLS regular season. He scored four goals and 10 assists in his last season at TFC. Soltedo is also a face to watch out for in PES 2022. Suffice to mention that Toronto FC currently has three designated soccer players on its roaster.

The team will need to move one of them before the summer to make room for the arrival of Lorenzo Insigne. According to sources, Altidore may be the odd man out and he is likely to move. This speculation may be true as the Toronto FC legend is not currently with the team at the training camp.

It looks that the team and the player are currently working towards a possible buyout before the launch of the regular season, which is expected to commence by February 26.
