2006 technical games
A word of appreciation from your Technical Director,
On Saturday, July 8 th we held our annual Soccer Day with our major event being the Technical Games. Les Jeux Techniques is a nation wide competition designed to test various basic soccer skills and sees thousands of kids participating across the country. It was a beautiful hot sunny day in Two Mountains and the participation was fantastic! We saw 113 players come out almost doubling our numbers from last year.
I would like to start by thanking our sponsor and main supplier Claude Clement of Evangelista Sport. Claude was at the field bright and early ready to help us as a volunteer. He supplied much of the equipment and t-shirts for all participants courtesy of Umbro.
We should say a huge thank-you to our President, Debbie Higgins, our equipment manager Jenny Baron, our registrar, Hazel Wylie, and Kelly Nicholson. These four ladies were at the field from 8:00 to 15:30 to run the registration and the kitchen for this event for our kids, instead of spending a beautiful sunny Saturday beside the pool. (And parents...please note that none of these four ladies had children participating in the event). Some of the other volunteers that deserve our thanks include Gary Rehel who is always ready to help out and provided us with some great photographs, Katrina Filiatrault and Christine Rehel, two of our great U-16/17 players who ran the dribbling event, many of our coaches including David Wand, Richard Coté, Pietro Vitelli, Arnold Duguay, Joseph Tannous and finally our house league co-ordinator, Glenda Esguerra for her tireless promotion of the event.
Finally I would like to thank all the parents, grandparents and siblings that showed up to lend a hand or simply cheer on the participants. We hope to see you all back in even greater numbers next year.
The winners of each age division will receive a brand new Adidas soccer ball courtesy of the ASDM and Evangelista. The U-8 to U-12 winners will go on to represent Two Mountains at the regional event in Saint Anne des Plaines on August 26 th !
